Motives of the Heart...100 credits at the bottom!

I've been a little off and on with doing my marketing lately, however, this week I've gotten the juices going again!

Do you ever find that your motives are way off? Do you ever find your self being jealous of others, thinking too much of yourself, or comparing yourself to others?

I got stuck in this for a while. Its been a disaster. But I've found a way to circumvent the whole self esteem problem! Basically, I cannot get my self esteem from what I do or my talents. There will always be someone who has more talent or ability than I do. So, that way of getting self esteem and feeling good about myself is out. Furthermore, I cannot look down on others who have less ability or talent than I do. They might have different talents than I do.

The whole point really is that we cannot look to ourselves or to others to feel good about ourselves. There will always be fault and failure. Instead, we must look to God. He has given us a perfect righteousness in Jesus Christ that is far above any esteem or honor or recognition that we could receive from others or from ourself.

If you are jealous of other marketers, or people, or angry because you feel that you don't have enough talent, I challenge you to examine your heart. Perhaps you truly think more highly of yourself than you should. Perhaps you think that you should be better, but God has not given those talents to you. Don't look down on yourself, or judge others either. You can rest securely in what God has made you to be. He is ok with you through Christ, and we should not judge ourselves according to how good we can perform.

Or read here...

Hi! You're listening to Melanie Roum, author of Master Mixing Career and
fun.

I'd like to think that most folks who listen and read here are entrepreneurs. I found an article that discusses some of the qualities of
an entrepreneur. http://www.businessownersideacafe.com/business_ideas/Aentrequalities.html?IC=404f99aa629a2a9edbf6e9141976b21d

Some of these qualities are:
1. Creative
2. A risk taker
3. Thinks outside of the box
4. Thinks towards the future

Another point brought up by Allison Gaea Jucha is that entrepreneurs have a quality that is negative. We tend to have too many irons in the fire at once! We have so many great ideas and want to work all of them. So we get scattered, and become unproductive. Then, our projects are not the quality they could be, and we end up feeling like we didn't achieve the vision we saw.

My challenge is to myself and to you. Get yourself focused on just a few projects. I'm not saying to dump the rest of your ideas, except maybe onto a Long Term GoaL list. Give your time to the ideas you feel most passionate about, or the ones you realistically have the resources to accomplish.

And on the light side, I'd like to welcome the newest member of the family! Willie arrived yesterday afternoon and he is a very happy baby. Our little bitty Chihuahua is settling in quickly to his new home. He really likes his bed and new chewy rope. We are hoping he learns to use the papers really soon! I'll be posting some pictures if I can get the digital camera from Mom!

I'll bet your child would LOVe to get a letter from Santa Claus. Imagine your child's excitement to see a letter with his or her name and their best friend's name too from Santa Clause. Santa will even sign it himself. Postmarks are even from the North Pole!

Article: "Be Your Own Boss"

Many of us hear and read these words on a regular basis. Maybe this phrase brings to mind dollar signs and bathrobes. Or do you dream of being out from under the iron rule of a demanding employer? Yes, sleep in, do what YOU want to do, stop working so hard! It seems like a worn out phrase, almost a cliche'. But have we really thought about the meaning of "Be Your Own Boss?"

The reality of this idea hit me in the middle of last week. The phrase means exactly what it says. We have to be our own boss, tell our selves what to do. What business is successful unless there are some requirements and goals to accomplish. There must be standards and certain tasks on a daily basis! If you were at a work away from home job, you would definitely have a routine! Your particular job would have certain requirements in order to make that company successful.

So, that means sitting down and writing out a list of goals for yourself. First of all, what are you trying to accomplish and what activities will make that happen? How much of each ingredient do I need to get the job done?

Then, write out a reasonable routine for yourself. Write down what you are capable of doing in the time that you have. If you expect too much you will set yourself up for failure. Just take baby steps. Practice on a daily basis. Make changes and improvements as you need to. You can be flexible, but by all means, do what works consistently! Do not give up because you blow one or two days. Get back up and go again.

If you will take the time to establish routines for your business and homelife, you will find that you accomplish more, are less stressed, and have more free time to play or take on another project you always wished you had time for!
